Wind River DVD Review

Good Morning Lovelies,

After starring in the Avengers franchise together, Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen have reunited in Wind River, a film by Oscar-nominated director Taylor Sheridan, which is out today on DVD, Blu-ray and digital download.

When a girl is killed in mysterious ways, a rookie FBI agent (Olsen) works with a game tracker, who is haunted by his past (Renner), to try and find out what happened to her and who was behind the killings. Set in the midst of the wilderness, this thriller leaves you guessing right up until the end, with twists and turns galore.

Throughout the film, there is one thing that stands out. It is the ruler of the screen and that is the nature. Sheridan has used the wilderness to command the way in which the characters react and interact with each other.

Instead of following the laws around them, they follow the laws of the largest amount of wilderness in the lower 48, causing characters to often feel lost and confused. All of which that is perfectly played out by Olsen and Renner.

Together they proved that their partnership can work in any way. After showing that they have a perfect on-screen partnership in the Avengers, but this film places them in a completely new atmosphere. Therefore, leading to many tests, however, their chemistry never dies down. Sheridan has taken two actors who are comfortable with each other and can work well together, to highlight further how the wilderness is a distraction to the key characters and their motives.

However, there are a few moments where the script does wander into places that make it less easy to follow and key elements of the story are left behind. Some that are important but never discussed again.

Overall though, the film is a thrilling viewing, which will fill a hole during the winter months. There so, I am giving it…
