Dunkirk 1958 DVD Review

09:05:00

Good Morning Lovelies,

As a brand new Dunkirk takes over our big screens, the original feature length 1958 film is coming back out on DVD and Blu-ray for us to enjoy!

Titled the same, the film is told from the points of view of two people, a soldier and a writer back in London, the film captures how much the war affected those who were on the beach and those who were reading about it at home.

The film shares the horrors of war in black and white. With men fighting for their lives and the capturing of the members of the public who came to save them, the film is very much telling the same story. Just without the fancy graphics that weren't around at the time.

In some cases, this is why the film has stood the test of time so well. The footage feels real because it is so raw. The men appear to be tightening the horrors and gripes of war with a knowledge of it. They appear as though they were there and probably many of them were.

It is a different feature from the new one because of the way it captures the heart of the story. Instead of staying in constant war it switches back and forth. Neither one story though is told delicately.

Dunkirk will be a story to live on forever, whether it is the old or the new version. And that is why it has earned itself this...
