Me Before You DVD Review

Good Morning Lovelies,

Back in the summer holidays, I headed to the cinema to watch Me Before You. After falling in love with the book (I nearly did a Joey in Friends and hid it in the freezer because I didn’t want to find out what happened at the end as I was so in love), I wanted to see how the story would come to life and I was very pleased.

Based on Jojo Moyes best-selling novel of the same title, the film starred Emilia Clarke as Louisa and Sam Claflin as Will, two people who meet and find themselves changing each other for the better and the crazier. Louisa lives for her family and works hard to make everyone happy even when she isn’t sure what she really wants to do.

Until she meets Will, a young man who is in a wheelchair after an accident. Unhappy with how his life is, Will has taken the choice to end his life, but Louisa is not going to allow him to do so without seeing the beauty of the world and the people around him.

Moyes’s book was always going to be a hard one to portray, but director Thea Sharrock has done an incredible job at bringing the characters to life. Clarke and Claflin portray the much-loved figures with ease and both should be praised for the way in which the characters shine on screen. Both have great chemistry and it really shows as they continue the character’s stories on screen.

As much as the book does, this is a film that really pulls at the heart strings and it really highlights to all those that there is so much out there still to see. You can never see too much or appreciate the little things too often. The film is one that leaves you wanting more to highlight to those viewing that life can change and people can but there is still much to do when these changes happen.

The film is one that deserves a sequel because the characters become very familiar and easy to watch. You build a connection with them and Clarke is the perfect person to bring her character back to the big screen for the next instalment.

There so I am giving the film…

4 Stars
