DIRTY GRANDPA REVIEW...11:57:00
Good Morning Lovelies,
Changing the ‘High School Musical’ image that has been with him his whole career, Zac Efron is making a name for himself in the comedy world and joining some huge names to do so. However his work with Robert De Niro in ‘Dirty Grandpa’ isn’t as big of a winner as others.
Following Efron’s character Jason Kelly as he prepares to get married, the film sees him getting tricked into taking his grandpa to Florida for one last party. While there Jason sees a new side to his grandpa that many of us would hope never to see.
There are many outrageous moments with parties going way over the top and nude aspects that will forever be embedded in my brain. The film goes in at the deep end but only manages to float instead of putting on a fantastic display.
It isn’t the performances that make this film not as good as others, but the script and the story. From the moment it begins the film is easily predictable and you can guess where it is going to go. And it makes jokes from things that should not be joked about anymore, especially with the day and age we live in.
Efron and De Niro could have and should have been given scripts that were a lot stronger, as both of them are fantastic actors. And both of them can get laughs out of people. They should have been given a much more original and fun story.
And there so I am giving the film…
