FAIRYTALE A TRUE STORY REVIEW...

Hey Lovelies,

I remember being told the story of the little girls who took photos of the fairies at the bottom of their garden at secondary school, and I was recently reminded at university. I don’t know how I really felt about them, as I was had mixed feelings, which were thinking they were really clever for doing it and then I felt really sorry for all of those that believed it.

The film ‘Fairytale: A True Story’ however definitely picks a side and from the moment it begins the film sympathises with the girls and their new found fame after taking the pictures. With celebrities desperately trying to get to see the pictures and the world wanting the truth about them, the young girls are thrown into the limelight and must work together to keep strong throughout.

From the very beginning you knew how this film was going to go and you could see that the filmmakers were siding with them and their theory of the fairies. They made the audience believe while watching that the fairies they met were real.

However when you look at the intended audience for the film, which is meant to be quite a young one, then it could be a bit of a tricky subject for them to follow because the adults in the film downplay the young characters so much that you can feel for them and as a young person I would have been upset by this, as they kill off something that many young people want to believe in.

One element that is very impressive is the casting within the film, as they are all such amazing classic actors that they draw you in as an audience and give such convincing performances as there intended historical figures that you start to believe that they are actually them.

Therefore I am giving this film…
