This is my final post on this Focus Friday :( And I wanted
to make sure we ended it on a high. I have kept a very special post for last.
As a blogger I love to see all the new trailers that are available
and this made me excited when I saw what was in my Inbox and the fact that I am
able to share them with you, is just brilliant.
So I am ending this week’s Focus Friday with the
International Trailer for the film.
So continuing with today’s Focus Friday, I have some very
exciting new stills from the film, which I think you are all going to
enjoy.
The stills definitely places the film under the action
packed category that Hollywood is building in practically ever feature this
summer and I don't see this one failing. I have to admit I wasn't a huge fan of
the first film, however if you were then I can tell that these stills are going
to be very special for you.
Please enjoy these stills and don't forget if you want to
make them bigger just click on the first image and use your arrow keys to move
along :)
Today's Focus Friday is all about the new film 'Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters' from director Thor Freudenthal. The film welcomes back many of the familiar faces from the original to create this brand new sequel.
Focusing on the plot from the hugely successful books, the franchise continues to strive in seeking for Percy Jackson's ultimate destiny. With the help from his friends, Jackson goes on a journey to retrieve the golden fleece, which has the power that could save everyone from danger.
The film is due to be released on the 7th August 2013 in the UK from Twentieth Century Fox but to pass the time I have this exciting new teaser trailer for you all.
I am very sorry at how late this song of the week post has taken, I have just been trying to get all the posts live for the press kits I am being sent. But as always I am making sure that I keep my word to all of you and keep doing song of the week.
Today was the day I finished school/Sixth Form forever and I wanted to choose a song that I thought world be quite ironic for the occasion, so I chose High School Musical's 'Breaking Free'!.
It's been a very funny day, full of many different emotions, so here is my treat for all of you (and yes I laughed too).
Hans Zimmer has become one of the most legendary film
musicians in recent times, due to his brilliant pieces that really create the
atmosphere in the modern films. He is becoming the best composer of all time
and his recent work on the 'Man of Steel' film has been recreated into a Featurette,
to present his brilliance to all.
The Featurette allows all of you to have an exclusive look
into the world of Zimmer's work and his genius way of creating the pieces that
are in 'Man of Steel'.
So another clip for this lovely morning is from the film 'Trap For Cinderella'. The film is soon to be released on the 12th of July and will be an exciting film to watch what other critics are saying about it. I haven't seen much publicity about it so I hope I have been able to convince those into going and watching it.
So today is my last ever day of Sixth Form and I will have completed my 2 years there doing my A levels. It's so weird to think that I will be completely finished after today and so I am trying to make myself laugh, to make sure I don't cry or go mental thinking about what I am going to do with my life and if I have got into university.
This is why I wanted to share with all of you this amazingly funny clip from 'The Heat' which will be out on the 31st of July in the UK and tomorrow for many other places around the world.
It will definitely make you laugh and I hope you all enjoy it! I have some more clips coming up soon so keep checking the blog to see if they are live :)
As mentioned before the lovely people at Twentieth Century Fox sent me some DVDs and included in them was the film 'Taken 2'. This film was going to have to impress me a lot to be as good as the original and I have to say it didn't. It lacked a lot in many aspects and I feel like the original should have been where it was left off.
A weak plot for a weak film. For such a fantastic film to start with I would definitely say for fans to avoid this one as you will definitely be disappointed. The plot is nothing compared to the original and lacks in places that others are succeeding in. As a sequel, stay away from the rubbish!
Liam Neeson takes the reins again as Bryan Mills and while his character is of course still brilliant, it just didn't seem as special as it did in the first one. The desperation seemed lost now that he had nothing to really fight for. Of course, the action moments are featured in the film, but they are nothing special and I expected something bigger then was witnessed. For a man who is seen as one of the only action heroes still surviving on the big screen, this was not a top performance from the hero.
The reappearance of Mill's daughter Kim, played by Maggie Grace (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn), is more key in this film which is actually the most interesting moment of this film. It was really the only difference I saw from the first film, as she was now her own person instead of a weakling!
Director Olivier Megaton, wasn't really thinking through this sequel and has made himself seem weak in the eyes of Hollywood legends. It definitely wasn't something a director would be proud to have in his catalogue of films and if I was him I would want to forget about it as quickly as I could.
Also in my Inbox this morning was probably something I got a little bit too excited about! I had received the lovely press kit for 'Rush', the brand new film from two time Academy Award winning Director Ron Howard, displaying the spectacular relationship between the two biggest rivals in racing history James Hunt and Niki Lauda.
Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brühl, portray the pair alongside
the formula 1 racing scene. They could not be more different to each other, as
one is famed for his lothario image and the other running to be his greatest
opponent.
The film focuses on their lives both on and off the tracks causing havoc and chaos for both men. It soon becomes apparent that one mistake is all it takes to ruin everything! Due to be released on the 13th of September, the film is a definite one to watch especially, as it is round the time Oscar films are chosen! Take a look at the trailer below to see what I mean...
In my Inbox today, the lovely people at Think Jam provided
me with the first exclusive look at the film '2 Guns' starring Denzel
Washington and Mark Wahlberg in this all new explosive action comedy on screen
fest.
The pair takes on the role of two operatives who are forced
to work together to track down the criminals of America while keeping their
true identities as undercover federal agents secret from each other. However
the pair is soon disavowed after a case goes far too wrong. Not containing the
loss of their jobs it soon becomes apparent to the two men that 2 Guns are
better than one, and the pair find themselves joining forces to bring down what
they started.
Due to be released in cinemas on the 16th of August by Entertainment One, the film is going to be a massive hit for all audiences.
Just watch the trailer below to see what I mean...
I have come to a very sad end of all the brilliant films
that the lovely people at Lionsgate sent me and have decided to finish it with
the film, 'On The Road'.
Directed by Walter Salles, the film focuses on the legendary
novel by Jack Kerouac of the same name and stars some of Hollywood's biggest
newcomers. Tackling some of the hardest characters ever, Garrett Hedlund, Sam
Riley and Kristen Stewart take the reins in this film. However I don't think
they are all successful in doing so.
I cannot praise enough the performance of Hedlund within the
film, as it has definitely strengthened his acting abilities in my eyes
compared to his other films. He finally gets a strong enough role to display
his talent instead of the lacking performances he was known for! I hope to see
more of him acting this way in the future. However his co-stars do not quite
live up to his superb performance during their time on screen.
Considering Riley is playing the key character, he gives a
weak performance. While he may stand in the shadows of Hedlund's, Dean, character
in the book, he is meant to be the most important figure in this film in
letting audiences understand the key storyline. However he doesn't! He focuses
too much on getting sex from every female on screen or waiting to have sex on
screen, making him lack in every narrators key features. He gives his weakest
performance to date in this film!
Stewart, may give a better performance than any other films
she stars in but she lacks so much in presenting the innocence of the
characters lost childhood. She portrays a character way older than the 16 year
old she is meant to be, which for me and many people who have read the novel,
it seems like she just doesn't get what she is meant to be portraying which
makes her so unsuitable for this role.
Overall the plot is kept to the original novel but I don't
know it that was a good thing considering the actors apart from Hedlund, could
not get with what they were meant to be showing. It was ridiculous but clever
all at the same time but it just lacked so much. There was actually quite a few
times I wanted to turn the film off and times where I could check my phone and
still be able to fall back into place when I looked up again as nothing had
changed or happened on screen.
For a legendary novel, this film does not present the true
key aspects of the texts and so therefore I could not give it a good score.
This means that I am giving the film...
So the lovely people at Twentieth Century Fox sent me some DVDs to review and I am so thankful for what they have sent me! The films are brilliant and I look forward to reviewing them in the up and coming days :)
But to start us off I am writing up my review on the film 'Rio'. I saw this film upon its release in 2011 with my nephew and it is now a massive hit within my family.
'Rio' may not have been what others were looking for but it was definitely a hit with critics and children everywhere, myself included, and I think it was a film that left an unexpected reaction in many audiences. It exceeded my expectations by far considering the casting for the voices and the general plot making it a brilliant film.
From Jesse Eisenberg's, Blu, to Anne Hathaway’s, Jewel, the characters are individuals away from the normal Pixar characters. It was a fresh idea from director Carlos Saldanha as it was like a complete u turn for children not to have to follow the characters too much.
As for the animation it was a different viewing on screen. Yes I know many could say that it is too similar to films such as 'Ice Age' or any Disney classic's but I thought that this was an original film and everyone involved should be proud.
The songs are also catchy and present the brightly coloured Rio in all of its glory. For someone who is desperate to go to Rio de Janeiro, the atmosphere created in this film mirrors that off screen, with the carnival vibes and brilliant atmospheres!
It is not just a film for children but also adults and so I am going to give this film a...
In my Inbox a couple of days ago I received some really cute images from the New York Premiere of 'The Heat'.
I adore both Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock on screen and off and just from the look of these images, you can tell that their partnership is going to be fantastic! Their bond seems to have produce more off screen then on from the look of these images and I think that is very refreshing in Hollywood nowadays.
As well the fan turnout looks amazing for a film that hasn't had amazing amounts of recognition from other critics or film experts which I hope proves them all wrong!
So about 2 minutes ago I posted about new film 'Bula Quo' due to be released on the 5th of July and I wanted to share with you all some fantastic stills of the film. They are quite funny compared to the serious films that I am so use to putting on the blog and I like the change.
Directed by Stuart St. Paul, legendary rockers Status Quo find themselves at a disadvantage in new film 'Bula Quo', as they find they may have rocked for their last time. The band witness a gang murder, while performing in Fiji for their 50 year celebrations tour, causing them to run away from all that they believe in.
Fighting off the press and the man who is hunting them proves to be an uneasy task for the men but with the help of others they may just be able to survive!
The film is being released on the 5th of July by Miracle Communications Limited and hope those who see it enjoy!
Take a look at the trailer below for an exclusive look...
I know I never mentioned why the posts were not finished on
Friday but it was my mum's birthday, so the whole family decided to turn up and
then it lead to a pizza/food coma situation. I am also getting back into
'Homeland', as I am so close to finishing Season 2 that I couldn't keep away
from it. I know they are rubbish excuses but I just wanted to let you know why
I did not finish Focus Friday and I hope you can accept my apology :)
To say sorry I am finishing the job off with one final post
on the film and this includes some very exclusive clips. I hope that these make
everyone want to go and see the film, as I have to admit that I wasn't really
keen until I saw them.
So please my lovely's enjoy these clips over the next couple of posts on this sunny
Tuesday afternoon...
Well I hope the Trailer was enough to entice you to go and see the film, however if you are still not sure if it is for you, then take a look at these exclusive stills of the film!
Each image gives a key inside look of what to expect from the three actresses performances and the overall theme of the film.
Don't forget you can click on the images to make them bigger and I hope you enjoy the images...
So the film 'Black Rock' was released today and if you haven't seen or heard anything about it yet, I am going to change your mind about it!
In my Inbox I have had the trailer waiting to be shared with all of you for weeks and I am happy to finally be doing so! It looks really good and presents that indie cinematic feel just in the trailer.
I don't know why but the film really reminds me of Fincher's 'Panic Room' and I honestly don't understand where my mind is going with this but I hope you can see what I mean aha.
Today's Focus Friday is focusing on the film 'Black Rock'! The film is being released into cinemas today from Metrodome and has already been a hit with many other critics.
The film focuses on a campout with an evil twist! Three young women soon find that the island they so longed to return to is not all it seems to be and soon find themselves fighting to survive.
I will be posting exclusive stills, trailers and clips over the course of the rest of the day so please enjoy :)
With an all-star cast Entertainment One has released the
exclusive new trailer for the film 'Justin and the Knights of Valour'. A
brilliant new adventure for all to enjoy!
Focusing on the story of Justin, a sweet natured boy who longs to follow in his grandfather's footsteps and become the most legendary knight of all time. However due to the Queen's new laws banishing all knights, Justin finds himself leaving everything he thought he knew behind to embark on training to be the perfect knight.
Among the way Justin finds friends in the most unlikely of people and soon begins to find the true meaning behind being a hero to his country!
Come along for the full ride on the 13th of September! But before that take a look at the exclusive trailer below...
Sorry I am late posting again, I went out for a meal :/ It was good by the way aha!
However I wanted to post this poster for the film 'Trap For Cinderella' that I featured on a focus Friday a couple of weeks ago. The poster has a really cool look to it and the tagline of the film really sets it off.
I wasn't drawn into the film before but I think if I had seen this poster in the cinema I would have wondered what it was about due to the critical theories at the top of the poster.
Another little present that I had in my Inbox this week was
this brilliant Featurette from the London Gala Screening of 'The Heat'.
I think looking at a Featurette is sometimes better than the
trailer, as it enables you to look at the different sides of what an actor was
trying to convey and the way a director wants something specific to look like
on screen.
So I am now FREE and very excited about it :) Anyone who did
the Film Studies exam today I feel your pain! And don't worry my section B
essay went a little bit of the task but I think it will be okay after talking
to others in my class.
This means that I will be back and blogging a lot and
tomorrow you will be greeted with lots of goodies that I have had in my Inbox
the past couple of days :)
I also want to say a massive Thank You for being patient
with me while I was doing my exams and I hope that everyone else who has also
been doing thought it went okay!
As a little Thank You treat I have an exclusive REDBAND clip
(Sorry for the swearing) of 'The Heat' for you all of you coming up in the next post!
I have literally just received an email in my Inbox stating the brilliant success of 'Man Of Steel' at the box office and I wanted to let you all know.
It was nice to see all of you visit the blog over the time the posts were being uploaded and going live and so its brilliant to see how well it is doing at the box office.
The film has become the 3rd biggest IMAX opening of all time and the 2nd biggest opening weekend of the year just after Iron Man 3. It has taken in £11.2 million in just the UK and Ireland on its own which is amazing for an opening film.
I am yet to see the film as I have been missing out on cinema trips due to exams but after Thursday, I am going to be the first one to see it!
I have been doing loads of revision recently because Thursday is the big one! Film Studies is coming up and I am petrified that something is going to go wrong :( It is my favourite subject and I have to do well in it for University so I am sorry about being late this week with the song but I am very worried!
But I am taking a break after my mum is forcing me to stop to allow you all a little treat... This weeks song :)
The song is from the film 'I Give It A Year' and I think it states what has happened to me since I have started revision as it is now the ruler of my life, as well as being the song I will probably being dancing to when I come out of the exam haha :)
Sadly we have come to the end of today's Focus Friday and I wanted to end it with an insight of the film with two exclusive clips of what to look forward to. I am desperate to see this film and these clips make me even more excited to see it.
A warning to all about the clips as they are REDBAND clips, so there will be swearing and other elements to the clips that will not be suitable to all ages.
The first clip presents an exciting look at the two characters and the Good Cop, Bad Cop image that Feig is working with. Take a look below to see what I mean...
The second clip also brings the laughs hard! Watch below for an exclusive look ...
In my Inbox this week I was greeted with some of the best stills I have seen in a while. They made me laugh so much as they were not the perfect stills that are now put out there, but ones that highlight the true comedic roles, females are rebuilding in Hollywood.
I loved the way the characters have been placed in the stills as it makes them ones that I don't think anyone will forget until the film comes out and we know why they look that way.
Please take a look and don't forget to click on the images to make them bigger :)
To start today's Focus Friday I am going to begin by showing
you the brand new trailer. It looks incredible and I cannot wait to see
McCarthy and Bullock together.
The soundtrack makes this trailer in my eyes and like I have
said before, it must be one of the best jobs in the industry to be able to put
a set piece of quality music to a trailer.
So today's Focus Friday is on the new film from 'Bridesmaids' director Paul Feig, 'The Heat'. Starring 'Bridesmaids' legend Melissa McCarthy and overall legendary Sandra Bullock as FBI agents looking to take down a drugs dealer but soon begin to find themselves becoming buddies.
Released later this month by 20th Century Fox, it is going to be a highly female dominated comedy which many fans will hope to get the same laughs out of like they did in 'Bridesmaids'.
Today I am going to be showing you some brilliant clips, the trailer and some exclusive stills to brighten up your day :)
