Shakespeare In Love

Hello My Lovely's,

Now as I promised if people follow me I will review any film they want. Earlier this week I got asked about the film 'Shakespeare in Love' by Mery H and so I am going to write out her request below.

The film is based on the way a romance revolves through the discrimination towards women on stage in Elizabethan times. It stars Gwyneth Paltrow as Viola, a woman desperate to perform on stage and Joseph Fiennes who plays a brilliant Shakespeare. It focuses on the doomed relationship of the pair as they embark on an affair that could end both of them.

Shakespeare is suffering from a breakdown of a previous affair which has caused him to write the play Twelfth Night. During this time he hires many people including Viola who is disguised as a man however that is quickly unravelled by Shakespeare. This leads to the pair having a passionate love affair which is later portrayed on stage through the play Romeo and Juliet.

The pair is faced with many confrontational moments such as Shakespeare’s play nearly being cancelled due to many believing there is a woman on stage which luckily they are able to save when an offer is presented from The Curtain theatre to use their stage. The pair is faced with even worse issues leading the film to a very climatic ending.

'Shakespeare in Love' is a brilliant romantic film which will have you hooked from start to finish due to the amazing cast containing Colin Firth, Dame Judi Dench, Gwyneth Paltrow, Joseph Fiennes and Ben Affleck. Each member brings something important onto the screen and makes the love on screen seem so real. Every woman and man should watch this film once in a lifetime, to capture the true essence of it.

Here’s the trailer....

I hope this was helpful for you Mery :)

Until Next Time...
